Loving the Engaged Life

Hey guys! Sorry it has been so long since I posted. My internship has concluded. It was so great and I loved everyone I worked with and so now I am just on the job hunt but have had multiple interviews so I am super excited! Galen is still working with his same company and he has really been enjoying it, as well.

This past week we celebrated my 23rd birthday which was super fun! Next week is Galen's 24th birthday, so I have had lots of fun planning that.

Wedding plans are starting to pick up. My mom and I dedicated a whole week to wedding planning and had around 10 different appointments all over town. We have gotten so much accomplished and it's going to be so gorgeous! We are still working on photographers, stationery and videographers.

Tomorrow my mom and I are going dress shopping! I am so anxious and excited. Then in a few weekends, will come bridesmaid dress shopping which should be a good time with my girls!

I will definitely keep you all posted! :)

Much love!

Wedding Frenzy!

Well to catch up from where I last left off...4th of July weekend at Canyon Lake was so fun! It was so great so some of my best girl friends and hang out with friends I hadn't seen in a while! We had an absolute blast...thank you Hayley, Mike and Sherry!

Now on to a serious wedding crisis...

Turns out that our wedding- April 2, 2011- is the same weekend as the NCAA Final Four which is being held at Reliant Stadium. The NCAA has a hold on all Houston and surrounding hotels- not to mention that the rates are bumped up, as well.

For the past 48 hours my mom and I have been completely distraught and clueless as to what we should do about this. We have called, what I feel like, every hotel in Houston and all are booked for this weekend. This means- no where for guests to stay, no where for the wedding party to stay and get ready and no where for Galen and I to stay on our wedding night.

You might say "Just change your date!" Well, our reception venue is booked all the way until July which is just insane, there is no way I am waiting that long and we've already put the downpayment on it anyways.

Galen even took it upon himself to call the NCAA! At first, I told him "You're crazy!" and then he informed me that he had made his way all the way up to the Director of Events for the NCAA...still no luck...but very cool!

We are trying to get creative and improvize on possible ways to solve this problem. As for now, we are keeping our date and just waiting out the situation while trying to beg and bribe every hotel in Houston.

Wish us luck!

Looking Forward to a Great Weekend!

Galen and I are feeling so blessed. Both of our jobs have been going so well and we are loving Houston. I am currently doing lots of wedding stuff-for others-not mine. I love it! Showers and bachelorettes for Sam and Bonnie have been so fun and with more to come! I am really looking forward to their weddings at the end of July.

It's been a pretty crazy and busy week!

Galen and I just arrived at Canyon Lake at Hay's lakehouse. Looking forward to spending the weekend with great friends and having lots of laughs!

Exciting News!

My little brother, Cliff, got drafted to the Pittsburg Pirates! We are all so excited. We went to dinner last night to celebrate and the scout flew in today and he will sign his contract this evening! It has been a pretty crazy time watching him and my parents figure out the logistics of everything this entails. He will leave Friday for rookie league in Florida and then he will come home in October until Spring Training in early March. Keep him in your prayers!

Wonderful Weekend!

This past week I started my new job (technically an internship) at an ad agency in Houston. I was slightly intimidated and nervous at first but I LOVE it! The people are so awesome and our intern team is filled with talent so I am extremely excited.

Friday night, Galen and I went to the Astros baseball game which was very fun. We beat the Chicago Cubs! Then Saturday, Galen's parents came in town and so our families got to spend time together and grill out which was entertaining and relaxing. Sunday we had church which was followed by an extremely rainy and lazy afternoon.

The housing search continues and we're back to another week of work. Galen's brother is also engaged and so him and I are spending the weekend apart in order to celebrate their bachelor and bachelorette parties. He will be going to the coast and I am headed to Dallas. Should be super fun!

Let the Festivities Begin!

The decision of choosing who your closest girl friends are is never easy! I sat and thought of when I was engaged, who were the first few girls that I wanted to call and tell? Lucky for me, I didn't have to do TOO much calling because half of them surprised me at my engagement dinner. When all was said and done, I made my decision and was ecstatic about it! So I started planning and designing...naturally!

On Tuesday evening, I held my first little wedding event and hosted a wine and cheese dinner at my house for my bridesmaids (except Galen's two sisters!) and it was wonderful! We sat around for hours catching up on eachothers' lives, families and where everyone was headed this summer. Some of us are headed into jobs, others finishing school this next year and a few are still waiting for job opportunities; nevertheless, it is so wonderful to see what God has in store for us!

Last night a few of us girls got together for the midnight showing of Sex and the City 2! Naturally, I dragged G along...haha! In my opinion, I like the first one better. I feel like the first one served a purpose of wrapping up the girls' love lifes, and this one, I felt, was just for kicks. There was no true purpose or plot except to get away and have fun with your girls every once in a while...which all of us need! Anyways, that's just my opinion.

Today, G and I are going to take a tour of condos down in Memorial area. Should be fun! Then I am headed to the Galleria with my mom to purchase my new MacBook Pro. I am having some serious contemplations about doing freelance graphic design work but that will come in my next post once I can wrap my mind around it!

Have a blessed day!

On To The Next Chapter

This past weekend, Galen and I graduated from college!

We spent the weekend with family and friends celebrating. It was so wonderful to see everyone and make some of our last college memories together.

Galen and I spent the beginning of the week packing up my house in Waco and fully loading up our cars to head home. After saying goodbye to my best friend, Meggan, I had a complete emotional break down! Which is absolutely pitiful considering we are going to be living in the same city. It just isn't the same when you can't get ready to go out together or curl up and have a wine and movie night or randomly decide to go get frozen yogurt at 11 o'clock at night.

After driving through campus one last time, I just felt like I grew up too fast.
However, that emotion went out the door when half of my bedroom fell out of G's truck into the middle of hwy 6...this happened about four times. Needless to say it was a long drive home. I am finally all moved into my bedroom and slowly getting settled in.

Although my college days are behind me and I already miss them like crazy, I am ready to start my life in Houston and catch-up with old friends but also make new ones.

This weekend I am heading to the Frio River with some of my best girlfriends and I am SO excited!

Just to Get You Caught Up on Our Story...

On December 22nd, 2007. I was headed to watch Katy High School in the State Football Championship game. My best friend Hayley had invited me and it was Christmas break so I was a little stir crazy to get out of the house and do something fun. Hayley's boyfriend at the time brought his friend, Galen, to the game. Hayley had told me all about Galen and how we should meet and all this jazz. Meanwhile, I was caught up on some other boy, of course.

So we get to the game and I meet this "Galen" character and he was hilarious and SO handsome. The next day we exchanged numbers and the rest was history!

The next important date of our lives....January 8th, 2010. I am getting ready to go out to eat with my family because I am headed back to school the next day. Galen was in town seeing my family, as well. My parents went ahead and got a table so Galen and I were both at my house getting ready. So I am all ready and I walk over to our guest room to where Galen is getting ready but he was already coming towards me.

So there we are standing on the balcony in my house, all ready for the evening!

Naturally my insecurity kicked in and I said "Do I look pretty? Does this outfit look okay?"

He looked at me and laughed with his precious dimples and said "Yes, babe but you would look even better with this on your finger."

He got down on one knee and said, "Will you marry me?"

He didn't even get to finish his sentence! I screamed "YES!" and we hugged and cried and he said, "Well you have to hurry, your family is waiting on us still!"

So we get to dinner and all my family and best girl friends (some had to be out of town) were there to surprise me!

So now you're all caught up & welcome to our blog!
